Hi Everyone  - June 2 2008
Moving along with the times I and all at Kibbutz Matzuva congratulate Sharon on her initiative
in creating a new website with its new and innovative features that I think everyone will agree is a great improvement on the previous site.

I'll try and contribute my part by trying to glean and publish information from the kibbutz itself and try and reflect on the happenings at a small cooperative village in
Western Galilee.

1.
New Community Village (Nofey Matzuva) - the kibbutz committee met with Nurit Barkai from the Mateh Asher Regional Council who serves as its demographic development coordinator.  The techniques and necessary know-how of linking together a kibbutz society and a predominantly former urban dwellers community at Nofey Matzuva in integrating together culturally and as a rural community.  Therefore a joint representation committee of the kibbutz and new settlers will be set up to both screen and vet future settlers within desired guidelines. The committee will receive professional guidance from the regional council.
Meanwhile, I see that the first house is already being built at the site.

2.Communications and Media: There is a need to upgrade the communication network and to install optic fibres replacing the present outdated copper wiring.  Yair Zvi in charge of communications (T-V, telephonia and Internet services) is to check out costs.  The matter is pressing as this must be performed before the final infrastructure work is commenced (widening of roads, parking areas, lighting and sidewalks, electricity, water, sewage. etc.).

3.The original children's playground and installations towards the south of the children's houses has been declared unsafe and has been cleared.   With a multitude of kids in the children's area the kibbutz is seeking a donor/donors to finance the new playground costing approximately
NIS.30,000 - anyone interested?

4.The long overdue renovation of the tennis courts is finally under way bringing them up to a minimum state f being able to play tennis on them.

5.Swimming Pool: Awaiting court ruling for the permit to open the pool.  An outside operator awaits the OK to rent the facility.  The regional council will provide transport to the sea once a week during the summer vacation.

6.Matzuva Mini-market: Once again the mini-market is changing hands with Oranit (who lives at Matzuva and is to build at Nofey Matzuva) moving out and Uri Algarishi (Matzuva member) about to open as an entrepreneur - we wish him success.  Incidentally, Oranit runs the B&B facility at Matzuva.

7.Infrastructures: Plans have already been submitted for roads and parking and without doubt there will be changes affecting the 'green areas' and many trees.  Members have been invited to see the plans that can be amended in certain cases.

8.Audit Committee: There is a need for such a committee but nobody has yet been found who is willing to pick up the gauntlet and monitor the running of the kibbutz and address complaints by members.

9.Archives & Museum: The building next to the hall has been sold to a new member and the archives and museum will be moved to the stone building next to the bus stop and opposite the laundry.  The kibbutz is seeking a new curator willing to continue this important work.

Shalom
Baruch
